We are glad that you are considering visiting Delta Oaks. We love to have new people come to see if this is the church for them. Most likely you are wondering, “What should I expect when I come to Delta Oaks Presbyterian Church?”
We begin Sundays with a worship service at 10:00 a.m. (Once we are past the Covid-19 crisis.) Come dressed in a way that is most comfortable for you. We sing a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary praise songs. Most importantly, you will hear a lot of God’s Word in the words of the songs, the Bible reading, and the preaching. The service is about an hour and ten minutes long. We do take an offering during the service as a part of our worship, but visitors should not feel any pressure to give. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of the month in the worship service. It is so good to be together, worshiping God, and being transformed by the Word!
During the service, we have a loving and caring nursery for your use. Our nursery is for infants through 3 years old. But we are flexible. If your older children need to be in the nursery, that’s fine. You can check your children in before the service or sometime during the service. You can even stay with your children in the nursery if that makes you more comfortable. We realize that having children in the worship service goes against the tide. But we love our children to be with us in worship, and you will be surprised how much they get out of the service.
After the service, we have a time of refreshments and fellowship in the Family Room. It’s a wonderful time to connect with people and to catch up with old and meet new friends.
Sunday School is after the service from 11:30 - 12:15. We have classes for all ages. For the children, we use the Great Commission Publications. Feel free to stay with your children in the classroom until you feel comfortable. Because we know there is always more room to grow in the knowledge of God and his will for us, we have a class for adults as well.
On the first Sunday of the month, we have a "Fellowship Dinner" right after the morning worship. On this Sunday we skip Sunday School classes for an extra time of fellowship and lunch together. Everyone is invited to stay and eat even if you forgot to bring food to share. We always have plenty for everyone.
On Sunday evenings different things happen throughout the year. During the summer we get together for BBQ, games, singing, and just to hang out. We have been known to have special evenings for things like a Chili Cook-off or your favorite soup. During the holidays we have a Christmas Party and a special Christmas Eve Candlelight service.
That is what you should expect on Sundays, but the church does not close down for the rest of the week! We have other ministries during the week such as Men’s Prayer Breakfast, Women’s Craft Day, Women’s Bible Study, Christmas Child Boxes, various conferences, Fellowship Dinners, and more.
