“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
Luke 2:13–14
As we approach the wonder of Christmas once again, I’d like to invite you to two events in the life of our church: our Friends’ Sunday Worship Service (12/21 @10AM), and our Christmas Eve Carol Sing (12/24 @6PM). You can click the links above to learn more.
In the midst of a season often marked by hurry, these two gatherings offer some precious time to pause and reflect on the deeper joy of Christmas: Jesus Christ, the “joy of every longing heart” who entered our world in humility and has richly given us grace upon grace.
It is my hope and prayer that, as we sing the familiar carols, hear the Scriptures read, and reflect on the child born in Bethlehem, our hearts will be warmed afresh, and we will marvel at the beauty of the Christmas Story, which is truly our story as well.
The shepherds were not the only people addressed by the angel choirs on that first Christmas night. Their words were meant for us as well:
“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:10–11).
Wherever this Christmas season may take you in the coming days, may the Lord bless you richly, and provide you with the Peace of which the angels sang.
Sincerely,
Ben Ciavolella, Pastor
Delta Oaks Presbyterian Church
