The Romans Road to Salvation

The Romans Road to Salvation is a simple way of explaining the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. It’s called the Romans Road because all the verses are from the Book of Romans. If you have any questions please contact Pastor Mike. Follow the Romans Road to new life in Christ!

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

The first verse on the Romans Road states the obvious problem. We have all sinned and do not live up to what God would have us do and be. Some do more wrong than others, but no one is innocent.

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

The second verse states the consequences of sin. God is a perfectly just God and therefore it is only right that he punishes the guilty. The Bible teaches that the punishment for your sin is death, not just physical but spiritual and eternal death.

But Romans 6:23 tells us more than just what your sin earns. It also tells you the good news that eternal life is offered as a free gift (it can’t be earned) through the work of Jesus Christ our Lord.

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

That salvation is a free gift does not mean it was not earned. The third verse of the Romans Road tells us how Jesus Christ earned our salvation. Jesus lived a perfect life and then he died on the cross as payment for the sins of those who receive him as Savior and Lord. The resurrection of Jesus is proof positive that God accepted Jesus’ death as a full payment for sin.

"…that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved… for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:9 & 13.

This fourth verse on the Romans Road tells you how to receive the gift of salvation. Eternal life is given to anyone who trusts in Jesus’ work of salvation and who acknowledges Jesus as the Lord and Savior. Living according to God’s word in the Bible, worshipping and serving in a local church and doing good works, do not earn you salvation but they do show that your faith and confession are real.

"Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5:1. "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1. "For I am convinced that neither death… nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39.

The last stop on the Romans Road is a set of verses that tell some of the results of salvation. If you belong to Jesus, then you are no longer condemned for your sins because Jesus paid for them. You also have a new relationship of peace and love with God as your heavenly Father. Nothing will separate you from God’s love and care. These are only a few of the many blessings you have in your new life with Christ. As you live for Christ you will begin to see a transformation in many areas of your life.

So what are you waiting for? “Today is the day of salvation!” Receive the gift of salvation by trusting in Jesus for who he is: the only Savior and Lord.
