We are glad that you are considering visiting Delta Oaks. We love to have new people come to see if this is the church for them. But, I’m sure you are wondering, “What should I expect when I come to Delta Oaks?”
We begin Sundays with a worship service at 9:30 a.m. Come dressed in a way that is most comfortable for you. We sing a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary praise songs. Most importantly, you will hear a lot of God’s Word in the words of the songs, the Bible reading, and the preaching. The service is about an hour and ten minutes long. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper the first Sunday of the month in the worship service. It is so good to be together, worshiping God, and being transformed by the Word!
During the service we have a loving and caring nursery for your use. Our nursery is for infants through 3 years old. But we are flexible. If you’re older children need to be in the nursery, that’s fine. You can check your children in before the service or sometime during the service. You can even stay with your children in the nursery if that makes you more comfortable. We realize that having older children in the worship service goes against the tide. But we love our children to be with us in worship, and you will be surprised how much they get out of the service.
After the service we have a time of refreshments and fellowship in the fellowship hall. It’s a wonderful time to connect with people and catch up with what is going on with old and new friends.
Sunday School is after the service from 11 to 11:45 a.m. We have classes for all ages. For the children, we use the Great Commission Publications. Feel free to stay with your children in the classroom until you feel comfortable. Because we know there is always more room to grow in the knowledge of God and his will for us, we have a class for adults as well.
Sunday evenings, we have a number of different opportunities.
For the children, we have Pioneer Club from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the church. In Pioneer Club, they will enjoy a Bible lesson, games, crafts, and an opportunity to earn badges as they learn different life skills. The kids have a great time together.
For those who are of Junior High age, we have the “Living Waters” youth group. They also meet at the church from 5:30 to 7 p.m. They have a Bible study that applies to them and also a chance to enjoy being together. Throughout the year there are also other opportunities like the Snow Rally and Horse Camp.
The "Living Stones" group for high school students meets at 5:30 p.m. at the Davis' home. The Living Stones study the Word in a way to prepare them for their life ahead whether it is college or the job market. Mutual fellowship and encouragement is also an important part of the time. Of course they know how to have fun together as well!
The adults also have an opportunity to be together during the study at the church from 5:30 to 7 p.m. led by Pastor Mike. Right now, we are enjoying the lectures of RC Sproul from Ligonier Ministries. Okay, RC is not actually with us in person but we watch him on DVD and talk about the lecture. Still it’s a great time to grow together in Christ.
On the first Sunday on the month, we meet at the Commons at Dallas Ranch, which is an assisted living apartment complex. There we have a evening worship service for the folks. They love our ministry of song and the Word (especially from the kids), and we love visiting with them. The service starts at 6:30 p.m. and is about 45 minutes long. If you have never ministered in this way to the senior folks in our community, you need to give it a try. What a blessing!
That is what you should expect on Sundays, but the church does not close down for the rest of the week! Check out the “Events” page for other things that are happening during the week and continue to come back for special events and ministries like Vacation Bible School, movie nights, the Harvest Party, the Treasure Box Ministry, the Evangelistic Drama Club, men’s prayer breakfast, women’s craft day, women’s bible study, Angel Tree ministry, Fellowship Dinners and more.
Questions? Send an email or give us a call and I will get back to you.
